How to Style a Charm Bar Necklace or Bracelet

Our Charm Bar is the build-your-own part of Shukstack: pick a chain or bracelet base, then add the charms that mean something to you. Here's how to put together a piece that actually looks intentional instead of cluttered.

1. Start with the base

Decide between a necklace chain or a bracelet first. Our Chains collection has gold and silver options in different lengths and styles (paperclip, rope, snake, and classic cable chains). A slightly longer chain (18 to 20 inches) gives your charms more room to sit without crowding.

2. Choose 1 to 3 charms to start

It's tempting to add every charm you like at once, but starting with one to three keeps the piece wearable and lets you build over time. A good starting combination is one symbol that matters most to you (chai, Star of David, or hamsa) plus one smaller accent charm.

3. Mix metals intentionally, or don't

Matching gold-on-gold or silver-on-silver looks the cleanest. If you want to mix metals, keep it simple: one gold charm as an accent among silver pieces (or vice versa) reads as intentional; an even split can look more like mismatched leftovers.

4. Layer with what you already own

A Charm Bar necklace doesn't have to stand alone. A thin charm chain layers well underneath a slightly shorter plain chain, or on its own as your everyday piece.

5. Add to it over time

The best part of building your own is that it's never really finished. Come back and add a new charm for a birthday, a trip, or just because. Browse the full Charm Bar collection for chai, Star of David, hamsa, fish, and evil eye charms.
